Brother has pulled out all the stops with this dazzling print, copy, scan and fax all-in-one; giving their users a very smooth occurrence.  The interface has been designed to make understanding and using it a practical experience and the wide panel of buttons are readable and logical.  For those people in a hurry, dig out your USB stick or camera and take it directly to the printer to get those prints instantly.  This feature also allows you to scan directly to the USB drive too.  Get creative and set-up distinctive ring tones for incoming faxes and go through your address book to see if you can add in the maximum 400 numbers the fax address book has available.

Brother love to recycle and have a dedicated, award winning plant in North Wales, where Brother toner can be sent back for free.  Along with achieving 100% from the Ethical Company Organisation, three years in a row, they have also sponsor 4 square kilometres of Amazon rainforest in conjunction with Cool Earth.  The Brother MFC 9840 toner comes in two yields with standard capacities of 2,500 pages for black and 1,500 pages for CMY.  The higher capacity toners are 5,000 page yields for black and 4,000 pages for CMY.

Getting the printer out of the box and set up onto the network requires no specific skills, as it comes wirelessly network ready and will allow users to print anywhere in the office.  The accompanying installation CD allows the printer to set up with Linux, Mac and PC platforms with minimal intervention.

The print speeds are 20 pages per minute for colour and monochrome printing, the copying speeds are 16 pages per minute for both.  The copier is able to stack and sort any document which requires multiple copies.  The resolution for print is 2400 x 600 dpi, for copying it is 1200 x 600 dpi and then for scanning it is 1200 x 2400 dpi or 19200 x 19200 dpi.

Overall the machine works extremely efficiently and can have the 128 MB standard memory expanded up to 640 MB.  The machine also features SSL – Secure Socket Layer and secure function lock to make sure information and the printer are completely safe.
