If you are looking for a reliable and small laser print for individual use or within a business with limited printing needs, then the Samsung CLP-320 is definitely one to consider. This is neat enough to fit on your desktop without hogging too much space and is also pleasing to look at too. This printer is a cost-effective solution if you are looking to move away from using inkjet printers to a laser printing office.
There are a number of consumables with this machine, including four CLP320 toner, in cyan, magenta, yellow and black, an imaging unit and a waste toner box. The Samsung 320 toner comes in a different yield for the black, which are 1,500 pages and 1,000 pages for the cyan, magenta and yellow. The imaging unit will need changing around 24,000 pages and the waste toner at 10,000 pages.
Getting started with the machine is instinctive and remarkably easy to do, with the imaging unit slotting into the machine first, followed by the waste toner unit, which then shows a guide along the side of which toners to put where and then finally, add in the toners, one by one. Shut the front up and then push the paper tray into the slot. Connecting it to the PC was just as easy and this model is compatible with Apple software too. The CLP-320N is network ready and uses USB 2.0 cabling.
The print quality is above average on a printer which has such a cheap purchase price and will certainly give excellent quality for people who are just printing reports and ad-hoc colour documents. The resolution is 2400 x 600 dpi and you can use the ‘print screen’ button to quickly send the contents you see on your monitor to the printer with one swift click of a button. With print speeds of 16 pages per minute for black and white printing and 4 pages per minute for colour, this is not the fastest machine but a small minus with the performance versus the excellent print quality, more than makes up for this small point.
No need to worry about having a clunky, clanging laser machine on your desk, as this is surprising quiet machine, which matches the sleek façade colouring. The processor power is 360MHz, coupled with 32 MB memory but as this is a printer which relies on your computer to undertake the image processing before the job is sent to the printer, this is more than enough to keep the printing running smoothly. The paper capacity is an adequate 150 sheets in the input tray. Overall the excellent build and print quality of this machine will make this a pleasure to work with.
