What's the Difference between Ink and Toner?

Ink is normally a liquid used in inkjet printers. Xerox has created “solid ink” which is essentially ink in a solid form.

Toner is a powder with plastic components used in laser printers.

In an inkjet printer, the ink shoots directly onto the page. This method is a bit longer than laser printers. Often, inkjet printers are used for photo printing and in homes or small offices.

In a laser printer, the toner is fused onto the paper. Laser printers have a faster print speed than inkjets, and the text is sharp and clear. Because of the fast speed, laser printers are usually found in busy office environments.
